Results (#2)

I was a little disappointed with the results of this weeks poll....the Crispies did nor fare as well as I had hoped!

The favorite furballs are as follows:

  • 4 votes for Beau Bear
  • 3 votes for Bella
  • 1 vote for #2
  • 1 vote for #3
  • 0 votes for Brisa

My poor Brisa! Not a single vote. Even #3 got 1 vote..and she is the most ornery cat I know!
Beau Bear did very well in this poll, and seems to be the crowd favorite (even though this blog IS about Crispies!)
At any rate...I am glad that the new dog has received high approval ratings.

Crispies love Clowns

Last month, Bella found this little clown doll in a box in the spare bedroom...she carried it around with her for days! I spent a lot of time redressing the thing, since she had pieces of it spread throughout the house...it lost its hat and pants a lot. I've never seen a cat become so attached to silly things like that. She is picky about it, too...she wont play with just anything. She dug to the bottom of a large box to find this silly old doll and refused to share it with anyone. She kept it near her at all times...

Bella went through this stage where she only slept on the floor between the bathtub and the toilet. She was there every time I walked in, no matter what time of night. So imagine the surprise I got when I walked in expecting to see a sleepy eyed Bella staring up at me, and instead, there was only this:

Call me crazy...but it was a little creepy.

As for Bella...she came back in, eventually....then it looked like this:

Silly Pep...

I eventually got sick of seeing the thing all over the house, so I took it...
I'm sure she will find something new to annoy me with soon, anyway.

The results are in!

Here are the results of last weeks poll:

9 people voted, there were 14 votes all together (since you could choose more than one)

What is the best way to deal with poorly behaved cats?

-6 people said "Trade them in for a dog"
-3 people said "Lock them outside"
-2 people said "Sell them"
-2 people said "Shower them with Affection"
-1 person said "Beat them"

So the most popular action would be to trade them in...well, I didn't trade them but I did add a dog! It seems to be going well so far....
Those of you that voted "Lock them out" have got it right... I locked Bella out on the front porch in the cold a couple times when I got sick of her peeing on my things. Apparently the porch was enough...she stopped.
Surprisingly, showering them with affection (my personal favorite technique) did not come in last place, as I expected! Most people seem to think it doesn't work...curious. Apparently it is slightly better to hug them than to beat them. Does that rule go for children, as well?

Adventures with Beau

Here are some pictures from this past weekend...it was Halloween at the campground, and Beau Bear had a great time!

Here he is in his costume...He even rolled in the dirt and picked up that "5 o'clock shadow" look!

My Dad always does a pretty elaborate set-up for Halloween...it involves a lot of blood, mostly. Once again, he took first place in the campsite decorating contest this weekend.
If we are lucky, we might even be able to book him for Halloween...we could be the coolest house on the block :D (Plus, we could stay home with the Crispies!)

Please be good!

So we are going camping this weekend...without the crispies, of course. That means they will have the house to themselves all weekend! Oh, the trouble they could get into! Whenever we leave like this, we have to be sure to thoroughly cat-proof the house...closing off entire rooms, hiding breakables, etc. They can sense we are leaving, so they are being extra naughty this morning...

Beau Bear is coming with us...he loves camping. I wish we could tell him that we are going, he would be so excited! He will get to spend the whole weekend with his lady friend, Shadow (my dad's black lab). They get along pretty well, although Shadow doesn't love sharing her table scraps!

I sure wish we could take the cats...maybe I can leash train them!? Wouldn't that be a sight to see...four cats and two dogs on tie-outs at a campground!
Here's hoping the cats don't destroy the house while we are gone!

So much fur...

I just realized that I never formally introduced the newest member of our family!

This is Beau Bear...

Beau is a 3 year old male Golden Retriever (who knows nothing about retrieving). We found him on Craigslist a couple months ago and got him on my birthday. He is a wonderful dog, as dogs go, and the cats warmed right up to him! They just LOVE his fluffy tail...it's great fun to play with! He loves to snuggle...which is great, except for the fact that he weighs almost 100 pounds! He also loves going for runs, which he usually takes with Kyle because I prefer walking...

I really enjoy and appreciate his company, especially when I am annoyed with the cats (which is quite often), but he can be a bit overwhelming. Perhaps it is his age, or his breed, or the fact that he is alone more often than he would like, but he has an extreme amount of energy! Don't expect to come here without spending at least the first 5 minutes greeting Beau Bear!! He especially dislikes physical contact between humans...it is one of the few situations in which he becomes rather vocal. At least it is comforting to know that no physical harm will come to me if Beau is around...he would never allow it!

Here is one of my very favorite pictures...I love it because it includes all four cats and Beau Bear!

Helping...paws?

Today, Bella is helping me with the computer....

She checks my connections,

Everything is fine back here...

Speaker quality...

Sounds good!

She is just so tech savvy!! She is thinking about joining the Geek Squad...

Brisa isn't really into the tech-y stuff...she mostly just watches the screen...

Crispies just love blogging!

I'm lovin' it....

The cats prefer to eat pretty early...earlier than I like to get out of bed. Who needs an alarm clock when you have four pesty cats!? Every morning, they stampede down the stairs at even the slightest hint of my heading in that direction, running under my feet and knocking over picture frames as they take a shortcut over the bookcase. Then they swarm around their dishes and yell until I get there... It's the same routine every morning, no exceptions. You would think I never feed the poor darlings!

And what happens when we leave food unattended at the kitchen table early in the morning? The cats assume it is for them, of course! And I was really looking forward to the breakfast burritos the guys left for me when they went to class yesterday morning...if only I hadn't been half asleep when Kyle told me he would leave them on the table (you know, the same one that doubles as a cat bed...)

Apparently they were delicious...

Perhaps they should have gone in the fridge...or at least on the counter!
Serves me right for sleeping in, I suppose...first come, first serve!

....and despite the fact that they ate all of my breakfast, they still insisted that I come and feed them immediately. Precious...
